iTero Digital Scanner | Invisalign® Certified Connectivity

State of the art technology delivers exceptional image accuracy

iTero Scanner Diamond Dental uses the most state-of-the-art technology available to help create the smile you want, which is why we use the iTero™ Digital Scanner.

Using the iTero™ digital scanner, we will take three-dimensional digital images, or impressions, of your teeth and bite. No impression trays with sticky putty needed! These images are sent directly to Invisalign, resulting in a reduction in wait time to start treatment. Not only for orthodontic treatment, but iTero™ can also be used for crowns, bridges, and implants.

Some benefits of iTero™ digital impressions over traditional putty impressions include:

  • Accuracy: They capture the exact contours of your teeth.

  • Efficiency: They require less time in the treatment chair.

  • Comfort: Taking the digital images is less invasive. No putty is used, and patients are more at ease without fearing they will gag on the impression trays.

  • Customizability: They provide a digital plan and allow for trays that are tailored to meet the individual needs and desires of each patient.

  • Visualization: They provide each patient with a definite picture of what their teeth will look like before, during and after orthodontic treatment.

  • Innovation: They use the most advanced 3-D video technologies.

The iTero utilizes laser and optical scanning to digitally capture the surfaces and contours of the teeth and gum structure in amazing detail. The images are captured by a hand-held photo wand that records 100,000 points of light, 50 microns apart, to create perfectly focused images of your teeth.

The digital impressions will help us formulate a personalized treatment plan that meets your specific needs and desires. We can also use them to visually show you your treatment options and help us keep you up-to-date on your treatment progress.

Panoramic X-rays and Cephalometric machines

Cephalometric X-Rays A cephalometric x-ray (also referred to as a ceph) is a tool commonly used by orthodontists in treatment planning to take a complete radiographic image of the side of the face and provide a view of the patient's airways.

It provides the measurements and relationships between the teeth, jaws and head while enabling dentists to assess growth and development. Unlike with standard x-rays, a cephalometric x-ray requires no film or plates, and it allows the orthodontist to see the nasal and sinus passageways. Most dental offices have a cephalometric x-ray machine that is accessible.

Cephalometric x-rays are generally taken with a panoramic x-ray machine with a cephalometric film container attached to a mechanical arm.

Generally, two cephalometric pictures are taken; one before orthodontic treatment and then one after. Although in some cases the pictures are taken while the procedure is being implemented. The picture is taken of the patient's profile and takes about ten seconds to capture the picture. Ionizing radiation is placed on the film to supply a complete picture of the oral structure.

The pictures can develop in approximately 5 minutes. Once fully developed, tracing paper is used to give your orthodontist an idea of your growth patterns and interpret how future orthodontic treatments will affect your dental structure.

Rotary Endodontics

Rotary endodontics employs electrically-powered instruments to perform the root canal treatment rather than traditional stainless-steel manual files. The electric hand tool is equipped with a tip constructed out of nickel-titanium – a material that is five times more flexible than stainless steel.

Due to the flexibility and unique movement of the nickel-titanium instrument, it can be inserted deeply into a curved root canal without stretching or damaging the passageway. This makes for a quick and reliable procedure.

  • The nickel-titanium cleans out the root canal much more smoothly and consistently.

  • Rotary endodontic procedures are more reliable with less chance of complications.

  • Rotary tools make the root canal procedure much faster.

  • The electric tools are much quieter and smoother, without the loud grinding that accompanies manual files.

  • The fast treatment time, in conjunction with quieter instruments, make for a much more comfortable and less frightening experience for patients.

Intraoral Cameras

Intraoral cameras allow our Bellingham dentists and staff to transmit crystal-clear images of the inside of your mouth to a monitor, allowing for easier and more accurate diagnosis of potential oral health problems.

Using special software, we are able to enlarge these images, freeze them, or view them in real time.

This technology aids our dentists Bellingham in explaining their diagnoses to patients during consultations. It also allows us to create accurate documentation of a patient’s dental condition and obtain a quicker response from his or her insurer, who will have clear visual evidence to confirm the results of our diagnostic tests.

Digital X-Rays

As part of our commitment to providing our patients with the safest, most effective dental options available, Diamond Dental uses digital radiology in diagnostic exams.

Digital x-rays are safer, faster, more accurate, and far more biologically conscientious than their traditional counterparts. The x-rays require no film, therefore reducing exposure to radiation by 80 percent and eliminating hazardous waste.

Patients simply close their mouths on digital sensors while our computers process the images within seconds.
